BEHIND THE SCENES
Treehouse Dinner Theater is the soul-child of Tricia Porter. "Tree" as she affectionately called by family and friends gave life to the vision of a unique entertainment experience that would bring excitement to new and seasoned theater goers near and far.
Her flair for the dramatic and awesome culinary skills had to have a proper meeting place. One that would reflect her strong family roots as well as her eye for forward thinking in business.
So the story goes, one morning she awoke from a dream about a tree house. Never having seen a real tree house in person, the impact of its image touched the inner child in her that longed for that special place that she and her friends could just meet and be free.
The tree house was also symbolic of the deep connection she felt to the Chicago West Side community where she was raised. Tricia’s “tree house” was a vacant lot that joined the families on her block in play, as passer-bys would look on in amazement and envy, often asking “Can we play?”
Traditionally tree houses were labors of love by parents for their kids. Built to give them a private space near home where they could explore their imaginations, share stories with friends or just make their own fun.
Have Fun. Come together. Share stories. Break bread. All in one place, all at the same time. Could it be done? Will it be the experience that will rekindle those care-free days of old? Tree hoped so, as she set out to manifest the vision of that dream. But her concept would aspire to a higher level by serving extraordinary portions of new urban theater coupled with decadent cuisine.
